Mr. Karston’s work experience in the field of structural engineering is diverse and his responsibilities have included forensic/field investigations, condition assessments, analysis/design, expert witness testimony, and construction/permit document preparations.  Through his experiences, Mr. Karston has developed exceptional technical skills and an enthusiastic ability to comprehend the facts and make critical decisions to better serve and meet the needs of his clients. He has design experience using a broad range of materials including steel, concrete, masonry, wood, and light gage framing.   He has developed excellent communication skills through interaction with a wide variety of contractors, architects, private, corporate, and municipal clients, and related consultants.

Mr. Karston’s project experiences have included institutional, office, retail, commercial, light industrial, and residential projects.  Projects have involved new construction, modifications to existing structures (renovations and alterations) including historic buildings, facade repairs, and design of field repairs.  Design simplification, constructability, and cost effectiveness are qualities that can be found in Mr. Karston’s structural designs.
